Treatment for Whiplash Pain

Whiplash is one of the most common injuries resulting from automobile collisions. Caused by a rapid back-and-forth motion of the head and neck, whiplash is a common injury from a rear-end collision. It can also be caused by sports-related injuries, falls, and trauma.

In whiplash, the ligaments and tendons in the neck are sprained or strained, and damage to the spine may occur.

Whiplash can result from very low-speed crashes. Many vehicles do not show damage from collisions under 10 miles per hour. Therefore, it is possible to be in a minor traffic accident or “fender bender” and still suffer from whiplash.

Furthermore, whiplash symptoms do not always appear immediately and may take days or weeks to present. Whiplash symptoms include pain and stiffness in the neck, radiating pain and numbness in the arms, and other symptoms such as dizziness, vision change, and headaches.
